This New Haven-built Model 9422 XTR is the deluxe-grade variant introduced circa 1978, finished in high-polish blued steel with select, machine-checkered walnut. It pairs a forged steel receiver with a 20.5 in Winchester Proof Steel barrel and classic rimfire lever-gun handling in a compact, well-finished package.

Overall Condition: Very good condition, showing light signs of prior handling or use.

The XTR treatment brings premium fit and finish to the 9422 platform, with high-polish blued steel parts and select walnut furniture. The stock features a straight grip, 18-LPI machine-cut checkering, a rounded, banded carbine fore-end, and a black alloy butt-plate with a widows-peak profile.
The rifle is equipped with a ramp front sight capped by a silver bead and an elevator-adjustable semi-buckhorn rear sight. Its solid-top forged steel receiver is grooved for 3/8 in rimfire rings, and a left-side takedown screw allows the receiver to separate easily for cleaning or transport. Firearm does not come with a case.
Chambering covers .22 Short, .22 Long, and .22 Long Rifle as indicated on the barrel. The under-barrel tubular magazine holds 21 rounds of .22 Short, 17 of .22 Long, or 15+1 of .22 LR. Overall length is approximately 37.4 in, and unloaded weight is about 6 lb. The action is lever-action and hammer-fired.
Barrel markings read: \"WINCHESTER MODEL 9422 XTR — .22 S-L-L.R. — MADE IN NEW HAVEN, CONN. U.S.A. WINCHESTER PROOF STEEL\". The 9422 line was produced from 1972 to 2005, with the XTR deluxe grade introduced around 1978 and continuing through the 1980s. Manufacture is in New Haven, Connecticut, USA.
