H&R Topper Model 088 12 Gauge Single-Shot Shotgun, 28 in Barrel, 3\" shells,1979 Production, Color Case-Hardened Receiver
Manufactured in 1979, this Harrington & Richardson Topper Model 088 is a U.S.-made, top-break single-shot 12 gauge with a 28 in blued carbon steel barrel and a color case-hardened steel receiver. First-year Model 088 production is indicated by the AT serial prefix and the Gardner, Massachusetts receiver legend referencing U.S. Patent No. 3,988,848. Stock has been cut to a pistol grip with the 28 in barrel, and the barrel features a fixed choke with a brass bead front sight.
Condition
Overall Condition: Fair condition, showing signs of prior use and handling. Barrel also has some pitting and scratches in one section as indicted in attached pictures.

Harrington & Richardson (H&R) Topper Model 088 12 gauge single-shot shotgun
This Topper 088 uses a top-break action with a top-tang opening lever and an exposed hammer.
It incorporates H&R’s transfer-bar ignition system and a single trigger. Capacity is 1 round.
The 28 in blued carbon steel barrel has a fixed choke Modified and no rib, providing a clean sighting plane.
The receiver is steel with a color case-hardened finish. The stock set is uncheckered hardwood with a pistol grip and a satin oil finish (Stock has been cut to a pistol grip), paired with an uncheckered hardwood fore-end.
Receiver markings include HARRINGTON & RICHARDSON, INC., Gardner, Massachusetts, Made in U.S.A., and U.S. Patent No. 3,988,848. The AT serial prefix denotes first-year Model 088 production in 1979 and Gardner, Massachusetts manufacture.
