With only 3,000 rifles contracted by the Canadian government in 1867, these rifles are exceptionally scarce, and finding examples with intact military markings makes them even more desirable to collectors of both American and Canadian military firearms. This rare example is one of the few surviving Canadian Contract Peabodies found with proper military markings intact. Features the distinctive "CM" marking on the right side of the butt and the small "DWM" cartouche on the left side of the wrist, confirming its authentic Canadian military provenance. Barrel retains 60% of its original blue finish with a brilliant bore, while the receiver shows shadows of original case colors now toned to bright. Very good stocks throughout and mechanically fine.
