Description:
World War I U.S. SPRINGFIELD M1903 .30-06 Bolt Action C&R Rifle SLING WWI

With “S.A. / FLAMING BOMB / 1-29” Marked Barrel

Here we present a C&R U.S. Springfield Model 1903 Bolt Action Infantry Rifle, made circa 1918 at the Springfield Arsenal. This rifle had a production run from 1903 through 1949 with over 3,000,000 produced. The M1903 Springfield, formally the United States Rifle, is an American five-round magazine fed, bolt-action service repeating rifle, used primarily during the first half of the 20th century. It was officially adopted as a United States military bolt-action rifle on June 19, 1903, and saw service in World War I. It was officially replaced as the standard infantry rifle by the faster-firing semi-automatic eight-round M1 Garand starting in 1936. It still remains popular as a civilian firearm, historical collector's piece, a competitive shooting rifle, and as a military drill rifle.

The receiver was manufactured in 1918 and features a replacement barrel marked with “S A/flaming bomb/1-29”. It is equipped with a replacement “N.S.” swept-handle bolt, and the right side of the rear sight base bears the marking “31.” The rifle is fitted with a walnut handguard and a stock with an 'S' profile grasping groove, which is stamped with a boxed “RIA/FK” rebuild mark on the left side. Included with the firearm is a brown leather “HUNTER 200-1 1/4” sporting sling along with an oiler stored in the butt trap.

The overall condition is very good. This rifle is arsenal refurbished and re-assembled. The stock shows expected wear, remaining in good shape. Strong action. The bore is dim with serviceable rifling. Legible markings. Replacement barrel and bolt.
