Serial #5,644 with all matching numbers throughout. All original and complete. Made from 1861-1865. The carbine has fine plus metal and clear markings throughout with crisp edges. Marked on the frame, "MANUFACTURED BY/AM'NM''CH'N WKS/SPRINGFIELD MASS" and "MANUFACTURED BY/MASS ARMS CO./CHICOPEE FALLS". It is fully U.S. Sub Inspected. The barrel retains all of its original factory blue throughout it. The frame, breech, & top tang all have darkening original factory case colors on them.The trigger guard, & band behind the frame both retain their bright original blue. The butt plate & front barrel band have turned a natural plum blue color. All of the wood on the carbine is fine throughout with fine edges and a nice even color to it. It has clear "GP" U.S. Inspectors Marks on the backside of the wood near the frame. The carbine has an excelllent bright bore and action in it.
