Here we present a Scarce Fritz Mann Vest Pocket Pistol, model 1921 made in1921 in Suhlerneundorf, Thuringia, Germany. Fritz Mann, the inventor, set this little pistol apart from the competition by making it even lighter and slimmer. While other pistols used weight in the breech block to slow down the opening of the gun, Mann used a small groove in the chamber. When the cartridge detonated, the brass deformed into the groove just enough to delay extraction. The result is this very odd, scarce little semi-automatic pistol. Fewer than 20,000 are thought to have been made. Nearly everything about this pistol is unique, from its aesthetic to its safety catch, all in order to make it as small and light as possible. The bore axis is very low. The grips are marked “MANN”. The left side of the frame is marked “Cal. 6.55.” and “MANN’S—PATENTE”. The right side is marked “MADE IN GERMANY” and the barrel, bolt and frame are proof marked with a “Crown/N”. The overall condition is excellent. The original blue finish is about 98%. The markings are clear and legible. The grips are in fine shape. The bore is sharp and clean. The action is excellent. These are very scarce, and you are not likely to find a better example of this unique German pocket pistol.
