This AYA 20 gauge side-by-side, built in 1990, is a lightweight, well-balanced Spanish game gun with classic lines and desirable features. It is built on a boxlock action with double underlugs, double triggers, automatic safety, bushed strikers, and strong timed ejectors. The gun is chambered for 2.75" shells and fitted with 27" barrels choked modified (.018") and full (.033"). Dimensions are 1.625" drop at comb, 2.375" drop at heel, and a 14.5" length of pull to a checkered butt. Overall weight is just 5 lbs 13 oz, making it very quick in the hands for upland shooting. A concave, solid, tapering rib topped with a gold front bead completes the sighting plane.
The action retains about 65% of its original case color and is decorated with light border and scroll motifs. Barrels retain approximately 90% of their blued finish with faint freckling near the muzzles. Mechanically, the gun remains excellent, with smooth action, tight lock-up, crisp triggers, and ejectors that are strong and properly timed.
The walnut stock is built in an English straight-grip style with a splinter forend and checkered butt. The wood shows light handling marks and loss of varnish typical of age and use, but the checkering remains sharp and well-defined.
Overall, this is a very nice AYA 20 gauge—well-proportioned, lightweight, and in very good condition for its age. Its combination of ejectors, double triggers, and classic game gun configuration makes it an excellent upland choice, while the remaining case color and solid woodwork ensure it presents well in the field or the rack.
