A South Carolina Marked & Purchased Providence Tool Company Made Peabody Carbine In Fine Untouched Condition. All original and complete. There were 350 made in .50 rimfire for the S.C. contract. The carbine has fine metal, markings, and edges throughout. It is sub inspected on the parts with an "E". It is marked with a large "SC" on top of the butt plate. All of the metal on the carbine including the barrel, frame, butt plate, trigger guard hammer, and barrel band retain most of their original blue finish which is mixing with an even plum color in areas. The carbine has fine wood throughout with nice edges. There is an inspectors cartouche on the backside of the wood stock behind the ring. The carbine has a fine bore and a very tight action in it.
