The Marlin Model 1893, also known as the Model 93, is a lever-action rifle produced from 1893 to 1936, known for its robust, side-ejecting design that offered better protection from debris than top-ejecting Winchesters. Developed by John Marlin and incorporating patents by L.L. Hepburn and others, this popular rifle was a direct competitor to the Winchester Model 1894 and was eventually modernized into the Marlin Model 336. It was made in various calibers, including .30-30 Winchester and .38-55 Winchester, and became the first Marlin model to exceed 50,000 units in production. Manufacture date 1900
