This is a splendid Fabrique Nationale (FN) C3 Hand Engraved Superposed Shotgun in 12 gauge, crafted by FN Herstal in Belgium. The serial number 94202 aligns with production in the 1960s, as FN Superposed shotguns in this range were produced during that decade. Designed by John M. Browning and completed by his son Val, the Superposed, introduced in 1931, was the first commercially successful over/under shotgun, renowned for its balance and craftsmanship. The C3 grade features a coin-finished receiver with hand-engraved game scene vignettes, elevating its artistic and collectible value. The 28" vent rib barrels with 2 3/4" chambers and Full/Modified chokes are ideal for upland game and trap shooting. Its historical significance lies in FN’s legacy of producing premium firearms, often marketed under Browning in the U.S., with this FN-marked example likely intended for the European or specialty market.

This shotgun is in very fine condition, retaining over 97% of its original blue finish with excellent bores, indicating minimal use and meticulous care. Light oxidation around the top lever is noted, but does not detract from its overall appeal. The checkered walnut stock, with a 14 1/4" LOP, 1 1/2" DAC, 2 1/4" DAH, and 3mm cast-off, shows light wear to checkering and minor impressions, adding character. The single selective trigger and automatic ejectors function flawlessly, ensuring reliability. All markings are crisp and legible.
