Description:
Guns Listing ID: 562981

The Marlin 39A is a classic American lever-action .22 rimfire rifle with a long and storied history. Considered one of the finest and most reliable .22 rifles ever made, it was the longest continuously produced shoulder firearm in the world before production ended in 2020. Its high-quality construction, smooth action, and accuracy made it a popular choice for hunting small game and target shooting.

Key features and history
A historical icon: The Model 39A evolved from the Model 1891, the first lever-action rifle ever chambered for the .22 rimfire cartridge. It became the Model 39 in 1921 and was further refined into the Model 39A in 1937.
Accuracy: The rifle is known for its \"Micro-Groove\" rifling, a proprietary Marlin feature designed to enhance accuracy.
Takedown design: A notable feature of the 39A is its simple takedown capability, allowing the user to separate the rifle into two halves for easy transport and cleaning.

End of production: The 39A was produced until 2020, when Remington, which owned Marlin at the time, went bankrupt and closed the factory.
Golden 39A: The final iteration was the Golden 39A, which included a gold-colored trigger.
Transfer to Ruger: In 2020, Sturm, Ruger & Co. acquired Marlin. While Ruger has revived many of the larger centerfire Marlin models, the company has not yet announced a plan to bring back the 39A.

Collectibility and use
High demand: Because of its legendary status and the end of production, the Marlin 39A remains highly sought after by collectors and shooters.
Versatile ammunition: The rifle is capable of firing .22 Short, .22 Long, and .22 Long Rifle ammunition interchangeably from its tubular magazine.
Hunting and target shooting: Praised for its reliability and accuracy, it was a favorite \"squirrel rifle\" and an excellent firearm for pest control, plinking, and teaching new shooters.
