Kentucky Style AMERICAN PIONEER Long Rifle
Here we present an antique Southern Full Stock Kentucky Style American Flintlock Long Rifle, made circa the early-19th Century. Pennsylvania and Kentucky rifles were the order of the day and were essential tools for providing meat for the table, pest control for the crops and livestock, and protection against beast and man for the homestead.
Rifles in this caliber were used for taking medium to large sized game on the frontier to include deer and elk, and likely a few squirrels and rabbits too! Frontiersmen, homesteaders, pioneers, trappers and traders would have used a rifle like this for all of the above.
The overall condition is good. Dark brown, smooth patina. The stock is good with a repair at the wrist and has slight movement with light pressure. Showcases a nice maple graining. The action functions but the hammer doesn’t seat in full cock. Re-converted lock. The bore is in good shape for its age. Markings are worn. Hand inscription on the barrel is illegible. The lock appears to be marked “H.D. Reinck”. The trigger guard appears to be a “in the field” style replacement. Replacement ramrod.
