Description: 7.5X53.5mm; 40% blue, very good+ bore, good stock, 21.5'' barrel, Very rare Swiss cavalry issue Mannlicher straight pull bolt action carbine. One of just over 4,000 produced by Sig Neuhausen c.1897. Not many of these early carbines survived in original configuration due to hard use and even intentional damage, they were not well received by troops. Matching serial number bolt and 6 round capacity detachable magazine. Swiss military proofed and +/S inspector halmark. Stamped over the left side of the receiver chamber "S.J.G.NEUHAUSEN". Blued finish shows lots of wear with remaining finish in protected areas only. Walnut stock and handguard with a strong Cross in Shield stamp on the right side of the butt. Drift adjustable front sight blade. Tangent rear sight graduated for 1200 meters with a flip up 400 meter blade. Original leather sling which is in excellent condition. The stock has an extra coat of varnish on it, and there is a small crack at the end of the receiver tang and one on the heel at the buttplate tang. The bore is bright with strong rifling. Muzzle=7.55. Also comes with a more modern production Swiss cleaning kit (not pictured). Serial number is 3518 ANTIQUE Buyer pays $40 shipping CONUS, including full insurance and tracking.
