The barrel and full length magazine tube are a plum/brown color with traces of blue in the protected areas. Brass receiver has an untouched almost dirty look to it as does the forend cap. Some buggered screws on this rifle. Hammer and lever have a gray/brown appearance while the loading gate is a gray patina. Smooth functioning action. Straight grain walnut stock set shows some wear from the last 157 years. Forearm is missing a 7 inch sliver on the left side while the buttstock has a 1-1/2 inch crack coming off the frame at the wrist on t he left side as well. Wood has an overall dry weathered appearance with a brass rifle style buttplate. Forend cap is missing the sling swivel but the one on the stock is present. 19k serial range with the number on the inside. A good honest looking example of an early Winchester rifle from 1868.
