Smith & Wesson 559 – 9mm – 4" Barrel – 14+1 – 1982 Model – Pristine / Like New

We believe that this Model 559 is likely unfired. That’s what the original owner told us and our examination finds that likely to be the case as well. In fact, we think that this one contains just about everything that came with it from the factory. The only thing that’s missing is the owner’s manual.

Our pistol is serial number A762736 and Smith & Wesson tells us that this is a 1982 model. Smith manufactured the 559 from 1980 – 1982 and this was their 2nd generation pistol.

This is a steel frame pistol with a 4 inch barrel. The rear sight is adjustable and the front is a fixed ramp. The magazines hold 14 rounds of 9mm ammunition. A manual safety is on the left side of the slide. We haven’t fired this model before but we’d anticipate that the combination of the steel frame and relatively mild 9mm would give you a platform that’s very stable and quick to get back on target for follow up shots.

The pistol is a double action / single action model. The single action trigger is really pleasant. It’s got a nice, light touch to it. The double action is, surprisingly, smooth and better than we normally feel on a double action pistol.

The previous owner replaced the original grip with a set of very attractive set of smooth wood grips. However, the original checkered black grips are in the box if you want to change this back to its original configuration.

The bore and barrel are mint in our opinion. The frame and slide are Near Mint or better. Take a good look at the pictures and we think that you’ll agree that this one is just pristine! If a Smith & Wesson 559 is what you’re after, we don’t think that you’ll find a nice one than this.

Purchase includes the pistol, wood grips as shown, original checkered black grips, (2) Smith & Wesson 14 round magazines, original box, cleaning rod and brush.

We’ve listed this as a used firearm since we purchased it from an individual. We have not test fired it but we have performed our function checks and find no issues at all. As with all pre-owned firearm purchases, please review the photos carefully so that you are fully comfortable with the condition of the pistol.
