A Civil War U.S. Military Issued Burnside 5th Model Carbine Possibly With A Confederate Hand Made Replacement Lever In Very Good Untouched Condition. Serial #37,447 with all matching numbers. The early carbine has very good metal, markings & edges throughout. It is U.S. Sub Inspected. All of the metal on the gun has an untouched and natural patina on it. All screws are good throughout. The very unusual hand made lever may be a Confederate or field replacement. It is much heavier and larger than The typical lever, and is very well made. I have never seen a lever made this well before. The original wood is good and very untouched throughout. It has an outdoor look to it. There are two U.S. inspectors cartouches on the backside. The carbine has a good action and very good bore in it. This Early U.S. Civil War Military Issued Burnside 5th Model Carbine Possibly With A Confederate Hand Made Replacement Lever On It Is A Very Unusual Carbine That Deserves Further Research Done On It! It Is Fresh Out Of A Very Old Collection!
