Description:
A U.S. Civil War Military Issued Model 1860 Cavalry Sword Made by Mansfield & Lamb" Dated 1864 In Fine Untouched Condition. All original and complete. The sword has a fine untouched blade with excellent markings. It is stamped on one side of the ricasso in an oval, "MANSFIELD & LAMB, CRESTDALE, R.I." and on the other side, "U.S./C.E.W./1864". The blade is fine throughout with no chips and has a wonderful natural patina on it that is mixing with dried oil on it. This can be easily cleaned depending on the collector. The original grip is fine and untouched throughout. This includes the fine leather wrap, and the original brass wire. The brass guard is also fine and untouched throughout. This can also be easily cleaned if so desired The top of the pommel is U.S. Sub Inspected, "C.E.W." & stamped "20" on it. The original scabbard is nice throughout with a wonderful mix of original color and natural patina on it. It also has some light peppering on it in spots. This Is A Very Nice All Original & Untouched Example Of A U.S. Civil War Military Issued "Mansfield & Lamb"  Model 1860 Cavalry Sword Dated 1864. These All Original & Untouched U.S. Civil War Cavalry Swords With Fine Markings Are Not Easy To Come By!
