***HISTORICAL BACKDROP***:
It is JUNE of 1943, a fascinating month in which "Operation Cartwheel" begins in the South Pacific. Under the direction of Admiral Bull Halsey, Allied forces land on the islands of New Georgia and Rendova.
Meanwhile, in the European Theatre, The Fuhrer ( prohibits mention of “AH” by name) summons Heinrich Himmler to the his retreat at the Obersalzberg for a secret meeting in which the Jewish resistance is discussed. That resistance - its members referred to by the principals as "Bandits" - was to be eradicated over the ensuing four months. The method of that eradication would be a mass execution policy ordered by The Fuhrer himself.

Released to the public and Certified Authentic by the CMP as a “SERVICE GRADE” (A HIGH CMP GRADE DESIGNATION NOW LONG SOLD OUT), this extremely handsome, U.S. Property Marked and Army-Issued WWII SPRINGFIELD ARMORY M1 GARAND is a quintessential example of Mr. John C. Garand’s masterpiece.
The subject rifle features a BEAUTIFUL, PRISTINE AMERICAN BLACK WALNUT STOCK, amazing color variations and grain movement, CMP EAGLE STANDING PROUDLY. The ORIGINAL metal finish is smooth and uniform, light/medium silver tone. The receiver characters are crisp and clear. Mechanically smooth and excellent in its action, its Vintage USGI 1-51 SA barrel (a re-arsenal date strongly suggesting that this rifle played a part in Korea following its exploits in WWII) is excellent, mirror bright, great lands and grooves, and a strong profile of ME/TE “2+” APIECE, ALL its life left in it for your and your heirs’ special days at the range. Chambered in .30-06, just as God intended. ALL PARTS AUTHENTIC.
Saving Private Ryan... Band of Brothers... this iconic rifle is perfectly emblematic of what those men carried.
***NON-RECLAIMED RECEIVER***
For decades the CMP has been the wellspring of our national M1 Garand supply. But the CMP has recently announced that they are all but exhausted of “Original” (to use their term, “Legacy”) M1 Garands. They may be able to bring more “lend-lease” Garand rifles back to the U.S. from overseas in the years to come, but that process is complicated and uncertain. By necessity, therefore, the CMP is now rehabilitating (“Reclaiming”) a number of Parade/Drill Garands, which are rifles that were once in service, but were at some point in time welded closed and deactivated. ACCORDINGLY, FROM THIS MOMENT (SUMMER 2025) FORWARD, RIFLES FRESHLY RELEASED FROM CMP ARE ASSUMED TO BE NEWLY ASSEMBLED ON RECLAIMED RECEIVERS. ALL GARAND-BUYERS SHOULD BE ASKING ANY SELLER OF AN M1 GARAND THAT THEY ARE CONSIDERING FOR CLARIFICATION AS TO WHETHER OR NOT A SUBJECT RIFLE IS BUILT ON A RECLAIMED RECEIVER.
Such “Reclaimed” rifles will still be historic, attractive, and the CMP is undertaking a diligent regimen in their reclaiming process. But my personal opinion is that most Collectors and shooters alike will continue to strongly prefer “Original” or as I call them, “HEIRLOOM” - M1 Garand rifles, all other things being equal. As such, ANY M1 GARAND YOU SEE ME OFFERING WILL BE NON-RECLAIMED ONLY.

Historians have been warning for decades that America is at risk of losing its “National Memory.” Its memory of all it has accomplished. Its understanding of its place in the world as a force for Good. Its recognition that, should it falter in its central values and commitments, the vacuum left behind will not be replaced by a blank space…
History matters - Honor matters - Honesty matters - Love of Country matters - Goodwill & Brotherhood matters.
The M1 Garand rifle - alongside so many other tangible icons of “The Greatest Generation” - help us teach these values to our kids and grandkids. The impact and importance of this cannot be overstated.

***POST SCRIPT***:
The Red and Blue patch you see in my listing photos is the proud insignia of The 69th Infantry, “The Fighting 69th”, the group to which my grandfather was attached during the War. The 69th Infantry was formed in 1943 and deployed to England in Dec. 1944. Landing at the French port of Le Havre in late January 1945, advancing into Belgium, then quickly pushing into Germany, the Fighting 69th crossed the Rhine River by late March. Their steady drive eastward to Saxony continued, where they captured the city of Leipzig on April 19, uncovering and liberating the Buchenwald sub-camp of Leipzig-Thekla, immediately rendering care for the approximately 100 survivors. Less than one week later, the 69th would become the very first American unit to make contact with the Soviet armed forces in the town of Torgau.
I know that many readers have/had a family member, often more than one, who contributed to the War Effort, and in all sorts of capacities (not all heroes carried a weapon). Those who do/did will know the solemn pride I feel when I think about my Grandfather’s - and ALL the members’ of the Greatest Generation - exploits in the War, and how they will continue to echo through history. We lost him in 2017 at the age of 95. What I wouldn’t give to talk to him one more time, to ask him one more question, and to tell him again how much he meant to me.
