Iconic Great War Military Sidearm for Germany
Here we present a C&R World War I Dated Imperial German DWM (Deutsche Waffen-und Munitionsfabriken) Pistole Parabellum P.08 Military Luger Pistol, made in 1915 in Berlin, Germany. Basing his design off Hugo Borchardt’s seminal C93, Georg Luger successfully brought Borchardt’s work to practical and productive fruition. While finding buyers for the C93 seemed an exercise in futility, the new Luger Pistol found many countries eager to test it and even adopt it. There are many variations in this field of collecting, but relatively few major changes in overall design from beginning to end.
The Luger is certainly one of the most iconic firearms in history, made so by its association with being carried by German troops during both World Wars and is perhaps the most associated with those events. The top of the chamber is Great War dated “1915”. The top of the toggle is marked “DWM”. The right side of the barrel extension has the three “Crown/Script” German military proofs next to the Imperial Eagle proof.
The overall condition is very good. This is a bringback that was refinished in nickel post-WWI. Numbers match with the exception of the magazine base. The action is excellent. The bore is in good condition for age and use with serviceable rifling. The grips are solid.
