The Savage Model 99-H “Barrel Band Carbine” is one of the most sought-after variations of Savage’s legendary 99 series. Introduced in the early 1930s, the 99-H was designed as a true woodsman’s rifle—compact with its 20" barrel, light in the hand, and quick to the shoulder.
The defining feature is the barrel band fore-end, giving the carbine a distinctive profile and added ruggedness for field use. Chambered here in the classic .303 Savage, the cartridge that helped establish Savage’s reputation at the turn of the century, this carbine carries the heritage of the Model 1899 in a lighter, faster-handling package. The famous rotary magazine with cartridge counter not only allows the use of pointed bullets—a big advantage in its day—but also gives the rifle its unmistakable identity among lever actions.
