This is a Lucius W. Pond single action pocket or belt revolver manufactured in Worcester, Mass circa 1861-1870 prior to the Rollin White patent infringement lawsuit and is marked on the barrel "L. W. POND WORCESTER MASS. PAT'D JULY 10. 1860". These top break, spur trigger revolvers saw action as private purchase side arms in the Civil War. This all matching number iron frame example remains in fine condition with trace amounts of original blue finish having a pewter gray appearance with some scattered freckling. The original rose wood grips rate excellent and are pencil numbered to the gun. The action remains tight with not play in the barrel and proper indexing when the hammer is snapped back but slightly off when slowly cocked. The original screwdriver that is fitted into the butt is missing. A fine example of a relatively scarce Civil War revolver that saw only a few thousand built. Antique Price: $645.00 |
