Custom Sako AV .270 Winchester. Crafted by Robert Murray (Florida), serial 576991 has a 24-inch stainless steel Shilen barrel (.640-inch muzzle diameter, unmarked twist). Features include what appears to be a nickel finish over the action, extended safety (serrated), tuned trigger and EAW Quick-Loc mounting system (30mm medium rings, front extended, blued). STOCK: Coaxed from an exhibition Bastogne blank with outstanding sunburst figure and full-length character, appointments include an ebony forend tip, 24 lines-per-inch borderless wrap checkering accented with fleurs, pedestalled bottom metal, cheek rest with shadow line, skeleton grip cap, “screwless” inletted sling swivel studs and a Pachmayr Old English recoil pad. Bedding is on aluminum pillars with glass under the chamber area. DIMENSIONS: Weight (with mounts) is 9.0 pounds and the length-of-pull is 14.0 inches. CAPACITY: Five rounds (four plus one). No build sheet is present. CONDITION: The bore is pristine. Metal finish is approximately 95 percent with modest indications of handling and a scratch on the bottom metal. Wood is also approximately 95 percent, the majority of the adjustment owing to a healed hairline at the bottom of the ebony. Trigger pull is crisp. Mounts operate properly. INCLUSIONS: A properly fitted synthetic stock (quality, no visible brand) is properly fitted to the barreled action. Bedding is both pillars and glass under the chamber. Exterior paint condition is approximately 80 percent with some rack rubbing. A Murray leather sling is also present. The price is firm and layaway is available. $2,750 plus shipping.
