This fine condition Civil War period rifle musket is an example of the very first issued weapons at the start of the war. The state of preservation for this rifle is phenominal. Retaining much original polish combined with the blued nipple and long range rear sight it still presents a striking appearance. The original loading /cleaning rod is original and still has excellent threads on the shank. The rifle has the original full length walnut stock --sharp pair of inspectors cartouches--and no unsightly marks in the never sanded wood. The original and matching date barrel measures the correct 40". The bore is perfect and very fine showing no corrosion or rust. The inside of the cap primer retains a section of original caps also. Truly a fine, historic, US military rifle musket in a remarkable state of preservation considering the time frame of use. Very hard to upgrade and if you like condition this rifle musket will be a great addition to your collection.
