Description:
General Specs: Classic Doubles, c1988, 20 Gauge, 7lbs. 1oz., Chokes IC/M, LOP 14 9/16", DAH 2 1/8", DAC 1 7/16"
Serial Number:  CH5-668

The Classic Doubles Model 201 side x side shotgun is a continuation of the Winchester production of shotguns at the Olin Kodensha plant in Japan.  Modeled after the Winchester Model 23 with some modifications and improvements, Winchester stopped production under their name in 1987.  The remaining inventory was sold to Classic Doubles and imported for a few years under the “Classic Doubles” trade name.  These are fully optioned, well-made shotguns that include features of single selective triggers, ejectors, ventilated rib barrels with 3” chambers, beavertail forends, reinforced forend lugs, hand engraved steel grip cap and light engraving around action screws, nicely figured wood with extensive fancy checkering, drop points, checkered side panels, ribbons in checkering, and a factory recoil pad.  The checkering is well-executed hand-cut checkering that you only see on high-end guns in today’s world.  This gun, snCH5-668, is in 99% factory condition with only light field marks in the wood finish, none deep enough to hit wood.  The 26” barrels are tight on face and hinge, with mirror bores, jeweled barrel flats, and fixed IC/M chokes.  The action retains 99% factory blue, all mechanics function as designed, and the water table is jeweled.  The single selective trigger is manipulated by the tang safety, much like the Browning Citori.  The wood is nicely figured on both sides of the stock and the checkering pattern is profuse and decorative.  This is a LOT OF GUN FOR THE MONEY, just in time for the upcoming bird seasons.  When you consider the cost of new CNC machined side x sides with machine engraving and pressed in checkering and clunky handling characteristics, the Model 201 is a bargain.  Specifications are below, and thanks for looking.
