Description:
Here is a very nicely handmade, maintained and cased, London-made boxlock by S.J. Carr, a London retailer of new and used guns, with modern stock dimensions and chamber lengths.  This would make an oustanding field and sporting clays gun.

I have included a 25-minute video posted to Youtube which attempts to show as much detail of the gun up close as possible, as well as a demonstration of the gun being fired at clays to show there are no faults mechanically.  I have not edited the section when the gun is fired, it is one continuous take, so there can be no doubt of the gun's reliability.

The video can be found by going to Youtube and typing in: S.J. Carr Shotgun

The handling is superb, and the feel of the gun as it opens and closes, locks up, and recocks the lockwork and ejectorwork is one of true hand-made quality.  This is a gun where every piece was hand fitted via smoke black to every other piece, rather than assembled from manufactured parts.  This gun was no doubt made by the same London outworkers who completed guns for the "big-name" London makers, such as Churchills, Watson Brothers, etc.  It has the same feel and fit and finish as that category of gun.  This gun as many decades of future use in it.

The gun has been completely stripped, cleaned and lubricated, and inspected for mechanical faults, of which there are none.  It has also been fired 100 times on clays to check for faults, and again, none detected.  The stock head has also been inspected for deterioration due to oil ingress, and all is sound.  It is ready for use.  I have also included pictures of the internal action so that you can see the quality of construction.  There is a slight gap the width of a piece of paper between the action back and stock head on the right-hand side (noted in a photograph below) and a very small piece of wood about 0.020" in size missing on the inletting of the fore-end escutcheon ( also noted in a photograph below).  These are small trifling things, but worthy of mention by way of full disclosure.  The barrel and furniture blacking is a deep, rich glossy black.

Please contact me if I can provide any additional information.  I am happy to do so.
