Made circa 1920 and acquired by the consigning estate in 1965 from Abercrombie & Fitch in San Francisco, serial LT40755 has a 26-inch barrel (.645-inch muzzle diameter, ramp front sight with brass-beaded blade and folding hood, sling eye, island rear sight assembly with one fixed and four folding leafs marked 100/200/300/400/500). Features include a Mauser 98 action (not drilled/tapped), jeweled bolt body and an ebony bolt knob (checkered underside flat) and a roll-over safety (rotates 180 degrees). STOCK: The walnut is appointed with wrap checkering (partially-Mullered borders), horn grip cap, steel butt plate (widow's peak, serrated, trap, engraved screws) and a toe line eye. ENGRAVING: The action and forearm fixtures are dressed to nearly full coverage with bold leafy vine (punch dot shading). The brass initial plate is engraved “JCB”. DIMENSIONS: Weight is 8.0 pounds and the length-of-pull is 14.1 inches. CONDITION: The bore has modest uniform frosting and softened lands. When joined there is not a trace of movement. Metal finish is approximately 65 percent with thinning and blotching over the barrel. Markings are sharp. Wood appears to have been properly refinished and stands at approximately 80 percent. The ebony bolt knob is chipped and cracked. CASE: A canvas Abercrombie & Fitch case with maker's label, 1965 Westley Richards “Shooting Report” serialed accuracy card and original A&F purchase ticket is included.
