Boxlocks - This Blued top leaver nicely engraved and marked \'Patent Ejector\'.
The action is nicely engraved with English scroll. The 28" Damascus barrels are the star of the show with perfect bores and are signed \'Hooton & Jones 60 *Dale Street Liverpool*\' (*indistinct). Nitro proofed for 2 1/2" cartridges and reproofed in 86. The 14 1/4in stock has probably been refinished and features a Prince of Wales semi-pistol grip, vacant white oval and a horn butt plate. **James Hooton (b.1843 in Sevenoaks, Kent) is recorded as being a schoolmaster in Liverpool . In 1885 he bought a share of the Jones family gun making business.
