Unfired Classic H&R .32 DA C&R Eligible Revolver
Offered here and just acquired is this unfired classic Harrington and Richardson five shot 32 double action revolver. This revolver serial number A44987 has a three inch barrel, nickeled finish and retains all of its finish. It appears to be unfired and in 100% condition. Mint bore, minty grips, sharp markings. This surely will be a very fine addition to any collection of early American cartridge firearms.
H&R made a Premier series of small frame top?break double action revolvers in .22 rimfire (7?shot) and .32 centerfire (5?shot). The Premier First Model was produced from about 1895 to 1904. These early Premier models (pre?1905) were designed for black powder loads, and did not have caliber markings on the side of the barrel (that practice starts after around 1905 with smokeless powder guns). Barrel lengths of 3", 4", 5", or 6" were offered in many cases; the 3” barrel was a standard option for many Premier / early models. Nickel finish was standard for
However, research shows one reference that Premier First Model small frame black powder Premier serial number ranges for “Third Variation” or “Fourth Variation” reach up into the tens of thousands — up toward 100,000 for certain batches.Putting all this together, it is likely the revolver was made in the very late 1890s Barrel markings — It includes patent dates of “Oct 4 ’87”, “May 14 & Aug 6 ’89”, “April 2 ‘95”. Those are common on Premier First Model guns. These patent dates often appear on the top of the barrel.
