Description: WEBLEY & SCOTT LTD - 16 GA - 29" BARRELS - EJECTORS - 1921 - DELUXE WOOD MANUFACTURER - WEBLEY & SCOTT LTD - BIRMINGHAM, ENGLAND MODEL - GAME GUN ACTION - BOXLOCK ACTION WITH DOUBLE TRIGGERS, AUTO-SAFE, EJECTORS AND WBLEY TREBLE BITE SN - 95549 GAUGE - 16 GAUGE BARREL LENGTH - 29" CHOKED - CYLINDER .001" OF RESTRICTION / FULL .032" OF RESTRICTION CAPACITY – 2 DAC - 1.5" DAH - 2.125" LOP - 14.875" TO LEATHER COVERED PAD WEIGHT - 5 LB 15 OZ SIGHTS - CONCAVE RIB WITH SILVER FRONT BEAD PRODUCED - 1921 This Webley & Scott 16 gauge game gun is a wonderful example of an interwar British boxlock, built in 1921 and still carrying all the charm and balance of a proper upland gun. The 29-inch fluid steel barrels are choked Cylinder and Full, retain 98% of their original blue, and the rib is finely inscribed “Makers. Webley and Scott I.T.P. London & Birmingham, England.” The flats show correct 16-bore nitro proof, 1 oz. markings, both barrels matching with serial numbers, and the left flat marked “choke.” The action is classic Webley, with the robust treble bite, bushed strikers, and double underlugs, as well as double triggers, automatic safety, and ejectors. It cocks on closing and locks up smoothly and securely. Case colors remain at about 25%, with the balance showing an attractive silver patina. Engraving is finely executed across roughly 80% of the action in traditional English scroll, complemented by the Webley screw grip design. The underside of the action retains its original blued finish, and both sides still show flashes of color. The wood is striking, with dark streaked figure uncommon for a working field gun. The straight-hand walnut stock and splinter forend remain in excellent condition, with sharp checkering, a long trigger guard tang, and a leather-covered recoil pad measuring 14?" length of pull. A blank oval near the toe bears the name Galen Snow, giving it a bit of provenance and character. The drop measures 1½" at the comb and 2?" at the heel, and there is a subtle right-hand cast. The overall weight is a very handy 5 lb. 15 oz., making it ideal for long days in the field. This shotgun appears all original, with excellent fit and finish throughout. The only modification is that the chambers have been lengthened to approximately 3" with extended forcing cones. For those who appreciate fine English craftsmanship, lightweight handling, and a bit of history in their hands, this Webley & Scott is a very special piece—both practical for the field and desirable as a collectible.
