This is a collector lot of memorabilia from the Massachusetts Arms Company and from Dr. Edward Maynard himself. Mayard was a famed Civil War Dentist and firearms inventor eventually being named as the court dentist to Emperor Nicholas I of Russia and the holder of many innovative firearms patents. Included in this lot is an envelope and letter on Massachusetts Arms Company letterhead addressed to Dr. Edward Maynard dated September 13th, 1879 featuring a very crisp woodcut of a Maynard rifle. Also included is a canceled check bearing his signature and a Studio card photograph of what looks to be a Maynard sporting rifle and a Stevens pistol. An excellent grouping of important Firearms ephemera suitable for framing.
