Description: General Specs: Marlin, 1900, .38-55, 8lbs., LOP 13 1/16" Serial Number: 204976 Here we have an interesting Marlin Model 1893 rifle with 30” octagon barrel, full magazine, with an excellent bore with strong rifling, lightly frosted, it rates 8 out of 10 in condition. The 30” octagon barrel in the very desirable big bore .38-55 WCF with full length magazine that hold 11 rounds, it retains 70% factory blue going to patina, clear sharp lettering. The receiver has 50% factory finishes mostly gone to a pleasing gray. The factory original wood shows it age with field marks and some oil-soaked spots, this gun was well cared for, used but never put away wet! It has superb wood-to-metal fit, no cracks or repairs, and has a marksmanship badge carefully inset into the right-hand stock, someone was proud of this gun and their achievements, a cool touch and adds a ton of character, this gun has humanity built in! The rifle top tang has the MODEL 1893 marking which had been phased out in 1905, with guns after that time period being marked “’93”. The serial number is 204976 with manufacture of this rifle around 1900. All in all, a fascinating firearm, radiating history, a gun that is 125 years old, and a gun that somebody cherished.
