This is an early third Model 32 Sidehammer revolver manufactured by Allen & Wheelock. Officially manufactured from 1859 to 1862 with total quantity estimated at over 1000 this example has the Smith & Wesson slow drop style which marked the change to the 3rd Model. A rugged and reliable Civil War era revolver that saw production suspended with the Rollin White lawsuit for patent infringement for bored through cylinders. This example remains in excellent condition retaining virtually all, 96-98% of the original bright nickel finish with a few isolated spots of flaking. The rosewood grips are likewise excellent with perhaps half of the original finish. The barrel and frame have very nice markings. All numbered parts match correctly. The action functions correctly with proper indexing holding at half and full cock and releasing with a crisp trigger pull. An outstanding example of these neat little 32 Sidehammer revolvers not often found in high condition. Antique Price: $1,295.00 |
