European GOLD INLAID .45 Caliber Mid-1800s Pistols
Here we present a nicely Engraved Matching Pair of Antique Inlaid Boxlock Percussion Pocket Pistols, made circa the 1840s-1850s. These little self-defense pistols would have been most at home in the pocket of anyone in the busy cities throughout the world during the mid-1800s.
These pistols are compact, lightweight, and straightforward. The name “Pocket Pistol” perfectly captures their essence. Similar to the Deringer—a smaller, easily concealable firearm—these pistols were highly sought after. They feature elegant engravings along the sides of the frames, complemented by sporting Damascus barrels and gold wire inlays on the stocks.
The overall conditions are very fine. Excellent actions. Finish on the barrel is mixed bright gray and brown. The bores are in goo shape for their ages with distinct rifling. Vibrant case colored frames. Only a small piece of the wire inlays are missing from a right grip. Both grips are very fine. Markings are legible. Both pistols are marked “216/2”.
