Description:
"This is a robust moroha-zukuri tanto, distinguished by its rare double-edged point near the kissaki. The blade is stout with little sori, and is cut on one side with a bo-hi and soe-bi, while the reverse side remains plain. The overall construction, with its powerful profile and compact form, reflects the aesthetics of the late Koto to early Edo period. • Blade length (nagasa): 5.94" (15.1 cm) • Thickness at the machi (motokasane): 6.05 mm • Construction: hira-zukuri with moroha-zukuri-style kissaki; iori-mune; bo-hi with companion groove on one side • Nakago: ubu, one mekugi-ana, unsigned • Habaki: plain brass • Inscription: Later blade-surface inscription “????" (“Giichi / University") added in modern times for presentation or ownership; not a smith’s signature • Condition: In an older utilitarian polish that softens the hamon activity; some surface marks consistent with age; no hagire observed on inspection  Notes: Although the blade is quite stout, the kasane measures 6.05 mm, below the classic yoroi-doshi thickness. It is best described as a sturdy tanto in moroha-zukuri style, rather than a dedicated armor-piercer.
