R.G. Owen 12 gauge pair. Made circa 1929 and showcasing extraordinary quality, serials JC001 and JC002 have 30.3-inch barrels (fixed IC/M (gun 1) and M/F (gun 2), matted ribs with double ivory beads, 2.75-inch chambers, ejectors). Features include automatic safeties, gold cocking indicators, single select triggers, rolled guards and extended lower tangs. STOCKS: Shaped from exhibition grade walnut blank sets, splinters and butts are dressed with fine wrap checkering accented with partially Mullered borders, diamonds and ribbons. Additional details include drop points, straight grips and Pachmayr Decelerator recoil pads with hard heels. ENGRAVING: Sadly unsigned but of the highest quality, an intricate bouquet and scroll enhances the actions to full coverage, wraps the chambers, circles the muzzles and graces the forend iron. A raptor centers on each lever and the maker's name, gun numbers, safety “Ss” and barrel selector marks are highlighted in gold. Engraving is tack sharp. DIMENSIONS: Weights are 7.2 pounds. Lengths-of-pull are 14.6 inches, drops are 1.5 and 2.4 inches, and cast offs are approximately .50-inch. CONDITIONS: Bores and chambers are bright, barrels on face, ejectors strong and trigger pulls crisp. GUN 1 barrel blue is well over 90 percent with minor highlights. Receiver colors are approximately 40 percent under a yellowed protective overcoat (varnish). Wood is approximately 90 percent with a refreshed finish and added recoil pad. Gun 2 barrel blue is approximately 80 percent with light thinning, some minor scratching and two small surface impressions (left barrel, do not show in bore). Receiver colors are approximately 40 percent under a yellowed protective overcoat (varnish). Wood is at least 95 percent with a refreshed finish and added recoil pad. INCLUSIONS: A leather and felt two-gun case with canvas cover, snaps, cleaning rod and attachments, extra firing pins (2) and decocking block is present.
