Description:

Standard configuration S&W New Model 3 Target Revolver, cal: .44 S&W (Russian) CTG having beaded blade front sight and horizontally adjustable rear notch sights. Top of the barrel rib with S&W address and patent dates. Left side of the barrel marked “44 S.&W. CTG”. S&W trademark logo on the right side of the frame. Full SN on the butt and repeated on back of cylinder. Fitted with black hard rubber checkered grips having S&W logo and diamonds around screw. Complete with original factory letter by Roy Jinks explaining the history of the New Model 3, citing the sale of this revolver in 1902 to a John Aelban.

Condition:

VG-EXC bright original factory blue finish with slight muzzle wear, small patch of oxidation on left side of barrel, light flaking around cylinder, and thinning and flaking around straps and butt as carefully imaged.
Case colors of the hammer and trigger guard are lightly faded. Excellent original grips with sharp checkering, no losses or splits. Bright bore with very slight bulge forward of forcing cone, not perceptible on exterior. Correct manual mechanics with each cylinder indexing properly against light resistance.
