"Serial No. 2570905, made February 1944, .30-06, 24" round barrel marked 3-S-A-8-43. The top of the barrel also bears a British NP proof mark: “NP-.30-06 2.49"-18 TONS", indicating it was British-proofed for export, likely as part of a postwar surplus program or Lend-Lease return. Bolt is marked D28287-12SA / S-06 (diamond), and the uncut operating rod is marked D35382 9 SA, appropriate for the production period. The receiver is marked A12 (diamond) / D28291 32, and all internal parts and trigger assembly are correctly marked “SA", confirming a well-matched Springfield configuration. Stock is in very good condition, bearing a clean “SA/GAW" cartouche with Ordnance Department escutcheon, representing inspection by Col. George A. Woody during wartime manufacture.
