Here we present a C&R German Blank Chamber Semi-Automatic P.08 German Police Luger Pistol with police marked Holster, made circa 1930-34 by Deutsche Waffen-und Munitionsfabriken (DWM) in Berlin, Germany. Basing his design off Hugo Borchardt’s seminal C93, Georg Luger successfully brought Borchardt’s work to practical fruition. While finding buyers for the C93 seemed an exercise in futility, the new Luger Pistol found many countries eager to test it and even adopt it. There are many variations in this field of collecting, but relatively few major changes in overall design from beginning to end. The Luger is certainly one of the most iconic firearms in history, made so by its association with Germany during both World Wars.
This is a nice, all original, Early Third Reich era Blank Chamber Luger that was produced in the 1930-34 time frame. This example has multiple single "Crown/N" commercial proofs. It has fixed sights, a “DWM” monogram marked on the front toggle link, straw finished small parts, and checkered grips. A takedown safety is installed, but no cuts were made for a mag well safety. Also included is a black leather flap holster police inventory marked “7/J.R.21.8.” on the body. The Crown over N is a German pre-war proof mark used before April 1, 1940.
The overall condition is good. This example has been refinished. Strong action. Shiny bright bore with sharp rifling. Fine grip. The sear bar has been partially milled down at the rear. The holster is good, with restitched belt loops and closure strap. Markings are legible.
