Description:
.40-70 bottle neck, 28" full octagon barrel. Casehardened receiver falling block action. Plain forend and straight grip buttstock ending with a crescent buttplat, nickeled. Sights consist of windage adjustable globe front, Lawrence barrel sight and mid-range rear tang sight. In superb original condition with the barrel retaining nearly all of the barrel blue. The receiver and lock showing considerable case colors. Mint bore. The wood having only minor handling marks and the barrel and receiver show matching numbers. Serial range 1565xx. Factory records show that the rifle was shipped to L.H. Mayott, Springfield, Mass. on April 4, 1876
