Description: The Springfield Armory XD-series of pistols was greatly touted as one the giants of the polymer semi-automatic handguns of the early 2000s. However, the Springfield XD was not an original design of Springfield Armory themselves—rather, it is an imported version of the Croatian HS2000, made by HS Produkt. The HS2000 was the third iteration of the PHP pistol, made by I.M. Metal in Croatia in 1991. The pistol underwent improvements with 1995's HS95 and then the HS2000 in 1999. This version would go on to be adopted by Croatia's standard-issue sidearm for law enforcement and military units. The HS2000 then saw an impressive success rate in European markets, but could not breach the US market well enough, due to its low cost and assumed reputation as a "cheap gun." Springfield Armory then made the leap to acquire licensing for the HS2000 design and called the resulting pistol the "Xtreme Duty 9," or XD-9. This rebranding was more attractive to the American market and pistols began to sell at a much-increased rate. Over time, the XD-series of pistols grew to include various sizes, calibers, and feature packages, including small subcompacts, compacts, extra-large models, the addition of .40 S&W, .45 Auto, and 10mm Auto calibers, and newer generations in the XD-S, XD-M (modified) and 2024's XD Mod. 3. Key features of the Springfield XD is its blade-style trigger safety and grip safety mechanisms, as well as a barrel hood-located chamber indicator and striker status indicator on the slide backplate—all of these features make this pistol a very safe pistol to handle and carry, with multiple points to reference the gun's condition. The polymer frame makes it resistant to environmental conditions and keeps weight reduced—though this pistol does tend to weigh more than many of its most modern competitors. The XD-9 is rather ambidextrous-friendly, with an ambidextrous magazine release. The sights are comprised of fixed dovetailed white 3-dot sights, and the frame does feature an underbarrel accessory rail for attaching weaponlights and laser units. This XD-9 Subcompact is in quite good operating shape, though exhibits wear on the barrel hood's finish. However, there are very few blemishes in the frame, slide, or even the polymer components of the magazines. Of which, two magazines are included with this pistol: one 10-round OEM magazine with Pearce Grips pinky extension and an extended OEM 16-round magazine with polymer grip extension sleeve. This pistol does not, however, include a case or box. 9mm Parabellum Price: $349.99 Chambers: 9mm Luger (9mm Parabellum/NATO/9x19mm) Metal Condition: Good Bore Condition: Very good Barrels: 3 Triggers: Grooved with trigger safety Fore End: Underbarrel accessory rail Weight: 1 lb 10 oz Sights: Fixed dovetailed white 3-dot Item Location: Kearney, NE |
