Description:
SERIAL NUMBER: 39751. BARREL: 21". CALIBER: .52 RF. MANUFACTURED: 1865.

Scarce carbine with only 5002 produced and issued between March and May 1865. Similar to the percussion model, this carbine features iron hardware, leaf rear sight and post front sight, saddle ring, one barrel band, and walnut stocks. Lock marked: "STARR ARMS CO / YONKERS NY" and " STARRS PATENT Sept 14, 1858" on tang.

Maker legend stamped on barrel with patent legends stamped on rear. Lock is stamped "Starr Arms". Features a thick round barrel, iron barrel band, case color buttplate, lock, hammer and frame, saddle ring and stud, post front sight, folding leaf rear sight, and walnut stock and forearm. Barrel is stamped Starr Arms, Yonkers N.Y.The first 1000 of these carbines were delivered on March 9, 1865, exactly one month to the day before the Civil War ended. Another 2000 were delivered on April 10, one day after the war ended. SN 39751.

CONDITION: Fine. There is some nice case color on top of butt plate. The barrel has 90% bluing.. Stocks are excellent with some scattered dings. The right side of stock has a visible non structural crack. Bore riflings are sharp. A very desirable  carbine.

Fuctional and shootable. Hammer locks hold at half and full cock.
