Description:
A 16 bore fowler with a 25 3/4” round barrel with octagonal breech and an oxidized bore. The metal surfaces are a mix of deep gray and plum-brown patina showing some scattered old light pitting and oxidation speckling. The hammer spur shows an old brazed repair and there is a small circular sideplate on the left side of the frame. The underside of the barrel beneath the forend and inside surface of the frame are stamped with a “4” and the barrel also shows an ”IW” and small eagle stamp. The smooth walnut buttstock and forend rate very good as lightly refinished showing a few thin drying cracks along the buttstock and a period repair at the rear left corner of the forend. What is likely the original ramrod is present and the lock is functional. An Allen made gun often sold to contractors with no factory markings. Muzzle shows CYl for choke.LOP is 14 1/2"
