Description:
This is a very good condition US M1873 Trapdoor Socket Bayonet with original scabbard and frog. The 18" blade retains 85%+ of the original bluing with US on the ricasso and blade is nearly free of any imperfections, only light marks from age with light oxidation. The 3" socket is in very good condition with light marks from use and some oxidation. The good scabbard retains little of the original bluing with surface oxidation, tiny scratches on a dent free surface. This comes with a third pattern brass belt hook, Hoffman device, leather and brass frog in excellent condition with "US" on a stippled brass casting with some scattered verdigris, tight stitching and a fine patina. Back of hook is marked R.I.A. with back of leather marked W.T.C., J.H._. and the initials carved into the leather on the neck FL.;
