Description:
Serial #1057521, .30-06, 24" barrel with an excellent, bright bore. This is a 1919-built rifle that was overhauled in 1942 for use in WW2. The barrel has a 9-42 dated "SA" barrel with 90-92% of an overall arsenal-added parkerized finish on the exposed metal. Some mild silvering is present at the muzzle and along the high edges and projections, with most of the finish loss occurring on the handle and bearing surfaces of the bolt. The original Mark I cut-off switch and magazine follower are no longer present, and conventional Model 1903 parts are installed instead. The original ‘03 four-clip handguard is in fine shape with some bruises scattered about the original oil finish, and the replacement "scant grip" ‘03-A3 stock has further handling marks and blemishes scattered about the dull oil finish. A fairly crisp "SAA" San Antonio Arsenal stamp is present on the left side just ahead of the magazine cut-off. This is a neat ‘03 variant, refurbished for WW2 use, and is in very good-near fine condition overall. FFL or C&R;
