Description:
Features include a 26 inch 1/2 octagon barrel marked "MADE FOR P.ORR & SONS. MADRAS.” and “50 EX”. 1/2 length tube magazine. No. 21 Sporting front sight with a nickel silver blade and a 3 Leaf Express rear. Double set trigger. Plain walnut forearm with matching straight grip butt stock fitted with a flat steel shotgun style buttplate. It is in fine condition overall with the barrel and receiver retaining about 40% original blue finish with the balance having thinned to a smooth brown or grey patina. Hammer and lever show strong traces of the original case colors and the loading gate faint traces of original nitre blue. The wood is also fine with minor dings and scratches. Mechanically excellent. Comes with Factory Letter showing it to be 1 of 7 Model 1886's shipped to a high end retailer in India, P. Orr & Sons to be marketed to sportsmen looking to hunt dangerous game. The firm was established by Scotsman Peter Orr in 1846 in Madras, India, and it was primarily known as a retailer of luxury items, similar to the American firm Tiffany & Co.
