Description:
Here is a nice ultra lightweight 12 gauge boxlock non-ejector by W. Horton of Glasgow, Scotland.  It was built circa 1900.  The nitro-proved barrels are 28” with 2 ½” chambers and shiny bores, choked .004/.018 (about skeet/modified.)  There is a swamped rib, and the tubes are marked: W. HORTON. 98 BUCHANAN ST. GLASGOW.  The gun locks up tight.  The receiver features the maker’s name, surround by good scroll engraving.  The pull-off fore-end has a silver finial.  There is a small stress crack at the bottom of the fore-end where wood meets metal.  The lightly figured stock measures 1 5/8” x 2 ½” x 14 ¼” with slight cast off (for a right hand shot.)  The weight is 6 lbs 1 oz.  A perfect little upland double.
