A beautiful Large Powder horn. These large Plain Military Type powder horns are typical of the North Eastern US. It has a beautiful original patina and is in overall very nice antique condition it's quite impressive measuring 17" along the double curve. I guaranteed it to be of the late 1770s, or earlier. The photos give an accurate description of flaws and damage if any, so please spend time examining them. A large antique powder horn with a wonderful natural patterning that only mother nature can provide. Close examination of the plug shows small square nail heads and fact that another is completely missing. The large wood plug looks to have been hand turned on a primitive lathe. Rather than a metal staple a rusty screw provides a location for a carry strap.. That strap has long gone missing. There are no moth chews that I can find. The horn surface has a beautiful caramel colored patina with a very well executed collar then tapered to the spout. The spout plug is missing. Other items show are not included. This is a really a beautiful horn showing the the age of two centuries and more.
