Prince of Wales stock and splinter forearm crafted from highly figured European walnut with handrubbed satin oil finish. Double triggers, automatic selective ejectors, gas check, auto safety, and crystal cocking indicator viewing ports. Scott serial number 46923 was made in the famed Scott Premier Gun Works in 1891. The game scene engraving features fourteen gamebirds: the left lockplate depicts various waterfowl; the right vignettes of ruffed grouse and bobwhite quail; the bottom features five ruffed grouse, and the trigger guard displays a bobwhite quail. Scotts were known for their Audobon-inspired realistic engraving of game birds as you will note in the photos. The 30” highly figured Damascus barrels are chambered for 2-1/2” shotshells. Rumors to the contrary notwithstanding, low pressure 2-1/2” shotshells are available in the US from Clays Ammo, Game Bore and RST Shells. The barrels are topped by a raised solid tapered crosshatched rib. The rib bears the inscription “W&C Scott & Son Patent Triplex Lever Grip The Premier 10 Gt Castle Street Regent Circus London”. The right barrel is bored 0.735 with a constriction of 0.015 for Light Modified choke. Minimum wall thickness is 0.034. The left barrel is bored 0.738 and has a constriction of 0.035 for Full choke. Minimum wall thickness is 0.034. The swept back Prince of Wales stock and splinter forearm are made of very highly figured European walnut with a rich, warm satin hand rubbed oil finish. The checkering is crisp. Stock dimensions are 13-3/4” including a thin horn buttplate by 1-3/4” by 2-7/8”. Cast of for the righthanded shot. This “Premier Gun” from Scotts is a rare and beautiful example of the quality of the work of this famous maker. Handsome and profuse life-like game scene engraving, nearly 100% of its original case color remaining, very highly figured stock and forearm, highly figured Damascus barrels, and in good mechanical condition. These exquisite Scotts do not become available very often. Better move quickly. *** Please note that the photographs are part of the description. Not for sale where prohibited by state or local laws.
