The Hopkins & Allen XL is a double action revolver that was part of the Series l collection, This model produced around 1877, as indicated by its serial number.
Condition: 2 ¼"” .22RF Octagon barrel with a good bore showing areas of light oxidation, minor spot pitting and very strong rifling. Metal surfaces retain only traces of the original blue finish with the remainder turning to a nice gun metal gray patina. The original factory mother-of-pearl grips are in excellent condition with just minor handling marks and a small surface crack on the left grip. The top markings remain crisp and legible.
Mechanically the revolver appears to work very well in single or double action. Very good timing, lock-up has just a tiny bit of cylinder play. A very good example of an antique Hopkins & Allen early production revolver.
