Description:
Up for sale is a highly desirable early-production Springfield Model 1903, serial 326xxx, manufactured at Springfield Armory in 1907 — just four years after the rifle’s official adoption. Rifles from this era are scarce and sought after by collectors due to their early production, unique inspector cartouches, and World War I service history.
Key Features:

  • Rare early serial (326xxx) — Springfield Armory, 1907 production.
  • Barrel marked “SA 6-18” with flaming bomb — WWI rebarrel at Springfield in June 1918.
  • Multiple inspector and proof stamps: AOG, DA, VV, “A” on the bottom, double proof marks, SA and ordnance flaming bomb.
  • All original military configuration — correct period hardware, stock with sharp military cartouches.
  • WWI service upgrade — the 1918 barrel and proofs tell the story of a rifle that saw real U.S. service.
Condition:

  • Overall excellent collector condition, with all blemishes clearly shown in the photos.
  • Stock shows honest service wear with minor dings and scratches, as expected for a rifle over a century old.
  • Receiver markings, cartouches, and proofs are crisp and fully legible.
  • Barrel stamped “6-18” (June 1918) — historically interesting rebarrel
Why this rifle is special:

  • Early production M1903s are rarely offered for sale — most are locked away in private collections.
  • desirable cartouches and proof marks rarely found intact.
  • WWI-era barrel and markings make this a true collector’s piece with a documented history.
  • Low-number receiver (pre-1918 heat treatment) makes it an especially sought-after rifle for display and collection.
Disclaimers:

Note: As with all vintage firearms, this rifle should be inspected by a qualified gunsmith prior to firing.
